Quaint, alternative, non-sensationalist, documentary drawing is a slow and painstaking form of journalism. Albeit subjective, it is still a direct document of a particular time and particular place. Shapes of the local people, artifacts of transient culture, character and limits of the current materials - these things amount to a visual record. Without a doubt, the personal handprint of the draftsman betrays the feelings of that spot in the world, its psychodynamic impression, and if all goes well, the way it actually looks, when the light hits it.
